"Communication Arts" magazine called her package design for The North Face “smart” and it “can sell products harder, saves shoppers’ time and protects the environment.”

Recipient of numerous awards, Kathrin Blatter is the principal and designer of Rabbit Factor, a powerful design agency that helps clients stand out from the crowd. She is the innovative lead designer that developed The North Face packaging system—a worldwide undertaking. You see her hang tags in use on all five continents communicating in many languages. The eco-friendly packaging overhaul employes soy inks, 100% recycled paper and avoids any toxic finishes. Kathrin has delivered effective help with her strategic design thinking to other clients such as SF MOMA, How Books, Chronicle Books, Pyramid Beer, Edelweiss Airlines, UC Berkeley, San Francisco Convention and Visitors Bureau, and the Greenbelt Alliance.

She has over 11 years of experience under her belt turning design problems into design opportunities. Her work has not only appeared in all major design magazines in the US such as "Communication Arts" and "Print" but also in international beauty "Novum"as well as in several books. Previously, Kathrin lent her design expertise to Chen Design Associates, a world-reknown agency based in San Francisco.

Kathrin is a person who wears many hats. She feels just as comfortable whether she explores opportunities with a logo, packaging, web site, brochure or something that doesn’t exist at all. Her approach is broad but focused. Her strengths? Fresh ideas, lots of them.

In her previous career, Kathrin was a professional mountain bike racer in Europe and worked as an editor and journalist for Swiss Mountain Bike Magazine. Today, she still rides; the muddy trails in Marin are what she loves the most—but shhhh.
